Adding New Credentials

You can add credentials in Secureworks® Taegis™ VDR in order to run authenticated scans.

Credentials can be associated to groups of assets through the use of tags (see Associating Credentials to Tags). All the assets categorized under the tag to which the credentials are associated will be scanned with authentication using these credentials.

To create new credentials for your organization, follow these steps:

  1. Access the System menu by selecting the Account circle in the upper right, and then choose Settings.

  1. Select Credentials from the System Settings box.
  2. From the Manage Credentials panel, select the + button to add new credentials.
  3. In the Add Credentials modal that appears, configure the type of credentials using the following parameters:

    • Description — The description for these credentials.
    • Protocol — The type of authentication to which these credentials apply:
      • HTTP Basic Auth — Authenticate on a Website using basic access authentication (RFC—7617).
      • VMWare ESXi — Authenticate on a system running VMWare ESXi.
      • Web Form — Authenticate on a Website using a standard form submission.
      • SMB/Samba — Authenticate on a Microsoft Windows system using a Samba username/password combination.
      • SSH Password — Authenticate on a GNU/Linux system using an SSH username/password combination.
      • SSH Public Key — Authenticate on a GNU/Linux system using an SSH public/private key pair. You will need to enter the private key (in PEM format, as per RFC-7468) associated to the public key already installed in the destination system.
  4. Select Submit when complete.
